Cyclothon aspirants go berserk

Bhubaneswar: Aspiring participants of a cyclothon went on a rampage during the handing out of the kits at Kalinga Stadium here Saturday.

The cyclothon, which will be held Sunday, is an initiative by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) to bring awareness among the common man about the need for ‘fuel conservation’ and efficient utilisation of the depleting energy sources.

The applicants have been instructed to collect their kits from the registration counter at Gate No. four Friday and Saturday. However, the organisers ran out of kits around 4 pm Saturday. The news enraged the intending contestants who damaged the furniture and other properties there. Police soon reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Earlier, some youths had also appealed to the cops of Nayapalli police station against the alleged misbehavior by the organisers. PNN
