Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police said Monday that they would soon approach a Jharkhand court to provide them certified documents relating to the finding and disposal of the bodies of Om Prakash Swain and Dipu Mallick, the two murdered former aides of the Dhalasamanta brothers.
The two bodies were recovered by Jharkhand police in West Singhbhum district in 2013. Jharkhand police had registered two cases of unnatural death after the two bodies were found.
Investigations by the commissionerate police have found that the Dhalasamanta brothers – Sushant Dhalasamanta and Sushil Dhalasamanta – had killed Om and Dipu at a farm house in Athagarh area and then, in a bid to destroy evidence of the twin murders, dumped the two bodies in West Singhbhum district. The two bodies, which bore at least 80 per cent burns, were first discovered by nearby villagers who informed Jharkhand police.
“We have collected some evidence in this regard. However, we will urge a Jharkhand court to provide us the certified documents submitted to them by Jharkhand police in connection with the unnatural death cases they had registered in this regard,” said twin-city Police Commissioner Yogesh Bahadur Khurania to journalists.
The certified documents will help the commissionerate police get more details on how the Dhalasamanta brothers had killed Om and Dipu, added Khurania. PNN
Plea over D-bros’ links
Cuttack: A petition was filed in Orissa High Court Monday seeking a CBI probe into Dhalasamanta brothers’ alleged political links. Petitioner Kalipada Mishra filed an intervention petition stating that Orissa police has symbolically interrogated a few people associated with politics. But an investigation by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would unearth the nexus between the notorious gangster siblings and politicos as well as people associated with judiciary, he added. Earlier, rights activist Pradip Pradhan had filed a public interest litigation in HC seeking a CBI probe into the issue.
