Dakshina Moda ritual of chariots to be held today

Puri: The Dakshina Moda of all three Raths (chariots) of Lord Jagannath and his siblings parked outside the Gundicha temple after Rath Yatra to be held Thursday, the sixth day of the festival. .

After the Hera Panchami rituals, on sixth day after the Rath Yatra, the chariots will be prepared for their return journey and they will take a southward turn today. The first chariot to be turned was the Debdalana of Goddess Subhadra, followed by Balabhadra’s Taladhwaj and Jagannath’s Nandighosh.

The Rath Dakshina Moda ritual, wherein devotees pull the chariots in the presence of servitors and temple administration officials, is the preparation for the Bahuda Yatra of the deities, which will be held on Sunday.

However, the wheels of the chariots are oiled and checked before changing their directions.

Believing in the age-old tradition that the darshan of Dakshina Moda gives salvation, thousands of devotes have already arrived at the Grand Road to witness this ritual of chariots. Ample security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order.
