Rourkela, April 27: After the completion of the seventh round of the National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship here Monday, GM Debashis Das is tied at the top with six points along with Diptayan Ghosh.
Out of the seven games played so far, Debashis has won five and drawn two. In the seventh round, Debashis defeated Mari Arul S of Railways while Diptayan got the better of Satyapragyan Swayangsu of Orissa. West Bengal’s GM Neelotpal Das is in second position with 5.5 points. Satyapragyan is in joint third position with five other players having five points each. Orissa’s Utkal Ranjan Sahoo and Rakesh Kumar Jena is joint fourth with four points. Utkal Ranjan tied his seventh round game with Sayan Bose whereas Rakesh Kumar won his game against Rahul Srivatshav. Overall it turned out to be a profitable day for the Orissa players.
