Bhubaneswar, May 24: Many news channels have been reporting since Tuesday that the CBSE PLUS II results would be declared May 24. Learning this, numerous anxious students in the city were waiting with bated breaths to know their results. Since Wednesday morning, they have been checking the Central Board of Secondary Education website with anticipation, but the board decided to delay publishing the results. This came as a major upset to the examinees, their parents and teacher.
Disappointed over the delay, many students and even their teachers vented their displeasure on Facebook and other social media. Anita Das, a teacher in a city private school, said, “Since last night we have been waiting restlessly to see the results. However, we are disappointed. CBSE is a reputed board and should be cautious not to put us in such situation.”
Unable to contain her frustration, Das further told Orissa Post that when they did not find the results on the CBSE website, they hoped that the board would declare the results in the afternoon, as the results were declared at 2:30 pm last year.
Ananya Mishra, student of SAI International, is equally aggravated. Ananya said she checked the board website more than 10 times, but fruitlessly. “The delay has only intensified our anxiety and tension. We feel let down as our further studies are largely dependent on how we fare in the CBSE Plus II exams. We would have been relieved if the CBSE published the results on time,” she articulated.
G Veena, a teacher at BJEM School, said, “My daughter appeared for the CBSE Plus II (science) exam this year and has been preparing for the medical entrance exam. She was tensed throughout the day and now she is upset that the results will be delayed further.
According to Bikash Jena, a student, such delays and uncertainties are unwarranted. “The board should clearly state why they have postponed publishing the result and specify when we can expect the same.” He added, “The news reports are baffling and make us more anxious.”
Meanwhile, latest reports said that the CBSE plans to declare the results after a few days, as the court and the Union HRD Ministry have directed the board to continue with the moderation system in marking. Incidentally, the board had decided to end the practice.
