Dengue on rise in Kalahandi district

Bhawanipatna: The outbreak of dengue has assumed alarming proportions in Ladugan block in Kalahandi district.

According to Saroj Tihadi, chief district medical officer (CDMO), out of 400 blood sample tests, 82 have been tested as dengue positive. While 15 patients are undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital, one of the patients has been referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

“We have the information that some patients are undergoing treatment in the hospitals in the neighbouring states,” he said.

The CDMO further said that to assess the situation in the dengue-affected areas, a state-level team of doctors and officials of the Health department has arrived in the district. The team will survey these areas for two days.

Asked about the steps taken up by the district administration, Tihadi said the Municipality and NAC employees have been engaged in the sanitation work in the dengue-affected areas. “Apart from this, we have also intensified the awareness campaign in the affected areas to advise the people to take up preventive measures against dengue,” he pointed out.
