Development projects inaugurated in Ganjam

Berhampur , Dec 13: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday inaugurated a number ofdevelopment projects and laid foundation stones for different infrastructure schemes in Ganjma district.

The projects which were inaugurated included a fire station at Rambha, a model school and a newly-constructed market complex of Notified Area Council (NAC) at Sorada.

The Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for around 60 pipe water supply projects in Kabisurya Nagara (6), Purushottampur (9) and Beguniapada (45) blocks.

The total cost of the piped water schemes was over Rs 3 crore while over 10,000 people in rural areas would get drinking water through pipe, officials said.

These small water projects would be constructed under the funds of the 13th Finance Commission (FC), MLA’s local area development fund and some other funds, the officials said.

Some of these projects would be operated through the solar energy system, said Basant Kumar Nayak, executive engineer, rural water supply scheme (RWSS) Bhanjanagara. The small projects would be operated though solar energy, he said

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a skill development counselling camp at Beguniapada.

Addressing the gathering at Beguniapada and Sorada, the CM said his government has undertaken various development schemes from the state’s own fund as the Centre

 reduced the matching shares for different projects.  “Our main aim is to develop the state and provide jobs to the unemployed,” he said.

Meanwhile, youth Congress leaders burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister near Khallikote college here opposing his visit to district. Earlier, they tried to show the black flag

to Chief Minister, but police foiled their bid and detained several of them.
