Puri: A 200-metre stretch of Devi river embankment at Baurikana under Kakatpur water resources division in Odisha’s Kakatpur area has developed a depression, a source said Sunday.
The locals expressed concern over the depression in the embankment that is going further down over time.
Local MLA and Minister in the Odisha government Tusharkanti Behera, Water Resources Department engineer from Nimapada and several other officials reached the spot to assess the situation.
The minister directed concerned officials to take immediate corrective measures. The engineer assured that repair work would begin at the earliest.
The locals, however, alleged that work on the embankment was carried out 10 years ago and has not been repaired since which led to the current situation.
