Devotee dies while waiting for darshan at Puri Srimandir

Puri: A devotee from Dhenkanal district died after falling ill while waiting outside the barricades for darshan at Srimandir in Puri Friday.

The deceased, identified as Debaraj Sahu, had visited the temple with his relatives in the morning. While waiting in the queue outside the barricades, he suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

According to his niece, doctors examined him after he was admitted to the hospital but could not save him.

Meanwhile, discussions with the family and an examination of his medical records revealed that Sahu had been suffering from a heart condition for the past three years and was undergoing treatment, his brother said.
