DGP orders compulsory retirement of three police officials

Bhubaneswar: The Director General of Police (DGP) BK Sharma Friday ordered premature retirement of three police officials over doubtful integrity in exercise of powers under Rule 71 of Odisha Service Code.

The officials were sent on compulsory retirement after doubtful integrity charges were proven against them.

The officials have been identified SI Banamali Nayak posted at Khurda SP Office, ASIs Birabar Lenka, and Kishore Kumar Bag.

It may be mentioned here that the state government had issued a circular on premature retirement plan to weed out bad elements with doubtful integrity or inefficiency from public services as part of its efforts to ensure high integrity and standards.

The new rule of review is applicable to government employees who have put in 30 years of service or have attained the age of 50 – whichever is earlier.  Under this rule, the officers and employees can be asked for compulsory or premature retirement after review of their service records and performances.
