Dhenkanal girl to be part of global health meet in US

Dhenkanal: A girl from here has been nominated to participate in ‘Global Student Summit on Health’ to be held in the US, a report said Tuesday. The three-day international conclave will be held from March 30 to April 1 at Chicago in the US. 

Fast Sahoo is the daughter of Sabitri and Kishore Chandra Sahoo of Mihir Mandir lane at Anand Bazaar in the town. She will leave for the US March 28 to participate in the summit.
Sahoo after completing Plus II from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Dhenkanal is currently doing her post graduation in Sociology at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack.

In the conclave, she will make a presentation on accessible healthcare for along with other participants nominated from various countries and in the presence of international leaders, physicians, healthcare experts and medical professionals.
When contacted, Sahoo said healthcare provided by the government is still not accessible to all and the poor in the villages are the most deprived lot.

This has happened due to lack of doctors, health workers and communication to many of these villages, she said.

She insisted that all the villages in the country should be connected by roads. Basic healthcare facilities should be delivered to all people on a public-private partnership mode. She claimed that she would work on the subject after returning from the US.  PNN
