Dist-level job fair to be held at Puri Jan 9

Puri: The administration is all set to organise a district-level job fair (Nijukti Mela) at Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Talabania here January 9.

A preparatory meeting for the job fair was organised under the chairmanship of collector Jyoti Prakash Das Thursday.

According to sources, as many as 50 firms are scheduled to participate in the job fair to recruit eligible candidates. “Unemployed youths from all blocks, notified area councils (NACs) and municipalities can participate in the job fair. The minimum educational qualification for the participants is Class-V, while the upper limit is graduation,” said district employment officer Arpita Priyadarshini.

As per decisions taken at the meeting, the administration would launch an awareness campaign regarding the job fair. “We wil organise counseling camps at 20 colleges in the district prior to the fair and put up hoardings at some strategic places in the city to create awareness regarding the event,” Priyadarshini said.

According to the district employment officer, the administration will ensure drinking water, toilet and first-aid facilities at the venue. “The administration would deploy police and fire brigade personnel at the fair. The regional transport office would arrange a few buses to ferry aspirants from railway station and bus stand to the venue,” Priyadarshini said.
