Kendrapara: The Centre-sponsored Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has became a mess in Chandannagar GP of Pattamundai block as some families managed to avail housing schemes more than once while real beneficiaries were deprived of housing.
Acting on the information, the district collector conducted an inquiry and placed panchayat executive officer under suspension. He also issued a notice to GRS. The Collector advised the BDO of Pattamundai to sanction work orders only after verifying all documents,
Collector Samarth Verma said, allegations were pouring in from several quarters about massive corruption in allotment of PMAY in Pattamundai block’s Chandan Nagar GP. While several real beneficiaries were deprived of houses, people who earlier got houses under the Biju Pucca Gruha Yojana (BPGA) and Indira Awas Yojana (IAY), managed to get PMAY by greasing the palms of venal officials.
