Kataka: DRIEMS University unveiled a bronze statue of Dhaneswar Rath, the visionary behind DRIEMS, on its campus here Sunday, on the occasion of his 32nd death anniversary. The commemorative ceremony, organised under the aegis of the Dhaneswar Rath Foundation, honoured five distinguished personalities with the ‘Dhaneswar Rath Memorial Award–2026’.
The awardees were Srimandir Chhatisha Nijog Mahanayak Janardan Pattajoshi Mahapatra, eminent litterateur Das Benhur, renowned playback singer Trupti Das, noted social worker Sujata Patnaik, and cricketer Basant Mohanty.
Each recipient was presented with a Khandua of Lord Jagannath, a memento and a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The awardees said students of an educational institution that gives equal importance to education and spirituality should consider themselves fortunate. They also wished DRIEMS continued growth and success. Kashi Sumeru Peetha’s Shankaracharya Swami Nar endraananda Saraswati graced the ceremony as the chief guest.
The ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Dhaneswar Rath Foundation Chairman Lalit Mohan Mishra. On the occasion, DRIEMS University Founder Chairman Pramod Chandra Rath felicitated the chief guest and Baba Satyananda Das. DRIEMS University Vice-Chancellor Ramakanta Panigrahi, Registrar Krushna Prasad Pati and BPUT Vice-Chancellor Amiya Kumar Rath were among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony.
