Drinking water: 40 families rely on tube well two kms away

Panthipani: Around 40 families from Dengaguda colony of Gangala panchayat in Malkangiri district are facing drinking water problem with a supply unit here malfunctioning.

The unit was distributing water to Tentuliguda, Dengaguda colony and Adakuguda villages.

However, the supply here and the adjoining areas has stopped after the water pump developed technical problems a year ago.

Despite several complaints, the RWSS officials are yet to take any action, residents alleged.

The families now depend on a tube well in Dengaguda colony, which is quite old and also malfunctions regularly.

“If the tube well becomes defunct, we go to Dengaguda village, which is two kilometres away to bring drinking water,” said one of the villagers.

RWSS junior engineer said they will soon install another tube well at Dengaguda colony to resolve the issue but nothing has been said about the supply unit yet.
