Drivers on poll duty denied postal ballot facility in Nuapada

Nuapada: Despite tall claims of authorities on having made all necessary arrangements to ensure 100 per cent polling of votes, many drivers were excluded from exercising their franchise in this district.

The drivers of the vehicles that were roped in for election duty in the first phase of the general elections here were not given any opportunity to cast their votes through postal ballot facility.

“The officials and staff engaged in the first phase of the poll were provided with postal ballot facility. But when it came to us, nobody seemed to care. Our fundamental right is breached,” alleged the displeased drivers who gathered at Komana hospital campus here Sunday to decide their future course of action.

They further urged all the poll-bound district administrations to ensure that the drivers engaged in election duty are not left out of the election process.
