Dharakote: Two siblings sustained critical burn injuries after the younger brother poured petrol on the elder leading to a fire while they were fighting over a petty matter at a Dalit hamlet in Baradabili village under this police limits in Ganjam district, Sunday night. The siblings were identified as Tuna Nayak and Uttam Nayak. They were engulfed in flames after coming in contact with a burning chullah during the fight.
Family members rescued and admitted them to Dharakote hospital. They were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after their health condition deteriorated. The incident occurred when the siblings in an inebriated condition fought over payment of Rs 30 with each other. Uttam threatened to set his elder brother Tuna ablaze and tried to pour petrol on the latter when he was sitting near the burning chullah. Tuna tried to resist Uttam but the petrol came in contact with fire during the scuffle and the siblings were engulfed in flames. When contacted, Dharakote police station IIC Shraddhanjali Subudhi said that no complaint had been filed yet in the police station.
