DSP sentenced to 2-year imprisonment in DA case

Balasore: The Balasore Special Vigilance Court sentenced a two-year jail term to a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) rank officer in a disproportionate assets case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.

The court also made it clear that if the convict fails to pay the penalty, he has to undergo an additional six months of imprisonment.

Similarly, the court ordered to confiscate assets seized from the possession of the convict, Narayan Chandra Nayak.

Notably, the anti-corruption officials had received graft complaint against Nayak when he was serving as an Inspector at Police Control Room in Bhubaneswar. Acting on the complaint, the vigilance officials raided his residence in Bhadrak town and house at Nahakanidhitha in Bhadrak district August 13, 2002. The anti-graft team unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs 6 lakh from his possession.
