Duburi-Sukinda stretch of NH 53 in poor shape

Duburi: With the advent of monsoon, Duburi-Sukinda stretch of NH-53 in Jajpur district has turned into a nightmare for local residents and commuters.

Kalinganagar Business Association — an association of local businessmen — has alleged that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is giving step-motherly treatment to this nine-kilometer stretch from Duburi and Sukinda owing to the planned four-lane of the highway.

Given the commercial significance of this area, thousands of heavy vehicle ply on this busy stretch of road making matter worse. This stretch of NH-53, that connects Sukinda mines area, Kalinganagar Industrial Estate and block office are currently full of potholes. Deep craters on the road take in a lot of water making travel very unsafe – especially when it rains, locals said.

They further added that even though they have been doing rounds of their public representatives to get the NH repaired, nothing has come of it as yet.
