Cuttack: People seeking to get duplicate copies of their matriculation (high school certificate examination) certificates and mark sheets will soon be able to get the same within two hours after placing a request.
Janaseva Kendras functioning at every panchayat in the state will soon make the service possible, said school and mass education (S&ME) minister Debi Prasad Mishra here Tuesday. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Board of Secondary Education’s (BSE) diamond jubilee celebrations, Mishra said: “Inclusion of BSE under the e-governance scheme will soon enable people to collect duplicate copies of their HSC certificates and mark sheets from Janaseva Kendras”.
Mishra, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, said BSE would digitalise HSC certificates and mark sheets of candidates who cleared the matriculation examinations since 1955. Rs5 crore has been allocated for the digitisation process, said officials.
Mishra also favoured rapid modernisation of BSE and the HSC examination process. “At present, BSE is conducting as many as 19 types of examinations and thereby deciding the fate of more than 12 lakh students annually. The state government may delegate more powers to BSE for better management of these examinations,” opined the S&ME minister. He also laid the foundation stone for a separate building to house the confidential section of the BSE on its premises at Bajrakabati Road here.
The minister emphasised on the introduction of vocational education in the high school level curriculum. “Vocational education will help in the creation of self-employment opportunities. The state government has introduced vocational education in one high school in every district as a pilot project,” Mishra said.
According to the minister, the state government plans to introduce vocational education in at least 150 high schools across the state in the coming
academic year.
S&ME secretary Ranjana Chopra highlighted the important role played by BSE in development of the state’s education sector. BSE president Dakhya Prasad Nanda presided over the inaugural ceremony.
