E-Stamping system launched in Rourkela

Rourkela:  Additional district magistrate Monisha Banerjee Wednesday launched e-stamping system at the office of the sub-collector in Panposh here to ease out registration process in the city.

Rourkela became the seventh city in the state to have this facility after Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Khurda, it was learnt.

The facility is aimed at simplifying registration process and people can benefit from it. With this service, a person can pay government duties through e-stamp for any type of registration exceeding Rs 1,000.

Stock Holding Corporation of India (SHCI), a Government of India enterprise, has been assigned to provide the facility to the people in 18 states including Orissa.

E-stamping facility would be launched in another 10 towns of the state in the next 15 days, said SHCI senior officer Koushik Bhattacharya, adding, the system is extremely safe for the people to pay government fees.

Though the system has not been made mandatory, people would be attracted towards it for its utility, Bhattacharya said.

The commission to be taken by SHCI from the people would be borne by the state government, it was learnt. This apart, people can collect e-stamps from the SHCI’s authorized centre during bank holidays and beyond transaction hours, officials said.

Local branch manager Nilotpal Maitra of e-stamping, Saliq Anand of e-stamping Orissa and sales officer Deep Maitra were present during the launching of the programme.  PNN
