Eagles face Tuskers in NPL final

Cuttack: Banaigarh Eagles sailed into the final of the Navodaya Premier League after scripting a convincing 28-run victory over Junagarh Toros in the semifinal at the Nimpur Ground here, Saturday. Eagles will face Budharaja Tuskers, who outwitted Barabati Cobalos by 52 runs in the second semifinal, for the title.

In a match reduced to 10 overs a side Toros put Eagles in to bat after winning the toss. Eagles scored 84 for six with Hemanta Kumar Pradhan (28 runs) emerging top scorer. Ramesh Nayak (two wickets) bowled well for Toros.

In reply, the Toros were bowled out for 56 in 8.5 overs with Abhijeet Pradhan and Sumit Kumar bagging three wickets each.

In the second semifinal, Tuskers scored 167 for nine in 30 overs after being put in. Man of the match Nihar Ranjan Purohit (42 runs) played a wonderful knock. P Biswaranjan bowled well, bagging three wickets.

In reply, Cobalos were bundled out for 115 in 25.3 overs with Satyajeet Mirda being the wrecker-in-chief getting three wickets.

UYSC enter semis

United Youth Sports Club (UYSC) beat Silicon Institute (SI) 3-0 to enter the semifinals of 14th Gati Krushna Memorial (Division-B) football tournament in Bhubaneswar, Saturday. Srikanth Behera (11th), Jagannath Barik (18th and 57th) scored for the winners.

Semifinal line-up: Mukteswar FC vs Mothers FC (Sunday); Neelkamal FC vs UYSC (Monday).
