Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Parameswar Funkwal Saturday reviewed the Singapur Road-Koraput railway doubling project, including major engineering works, during an inspection of the Rayagada-Koraput-Jeypore section.
The doubling project is aimed at increasing line capacity, facilitating smoother train operations and strengthening rail connectivity in southern Odisha.
Funkwal undertook a window-trailing inspection from Rayagada to Jeypore and reviewed the track, signalling and operational arrangements along the route.
He also reviewed passenger amenities, cleanliness and works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, directing officials to complete projects on schedule while maintaining quality and safety and minimising inconvenience to passengers.
The GM stressed strict adherence to safety standards and close monitoring of ongoing works.
Senior ECoR officials, including the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) and heads of engineering, electrical and signal and telecom departments, besides Rayagada Divisional Railway Manager Amitabh Singhal, accompanied him.
