Nayagarh: Tension ran high at Badasahi as hundreds of villagers of Damasahi staged a road blockade demanding compensation after the body of a missing elderly man was recovered Friday morning. Traffic was disrupted on the route for a couple of hours.
The deceased was Jagannath Parida alias Jogi, 65, of Damasahi near Ranpur in this district.
Locals said Jagannath had been to nearby Badamundia forests to collect fire wood Thursday. As he did not return, the family searched for him frantically but failed to trace him.
Villagers Friday morning spotted his body in the forests. He is suspected to have been killed by some wild animal. Villagers pleaded for compensation to the deceased’s family.
