Elderly man killed, son injured in knife attack by 17-yr-old

Debagada: An elderly man was killed and his son critically injured after a 17-year-old boy allegedly attacked them with a knife following an argument over cattle at Gaudsuguda village under Barkote police station in Debagada district Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Gautam Sahu, 67, while his son, Tikeshwar Sahu, 40, sustained serious injuries. Gautam was taking a water tanker to a construction site in the village.

However, he was unable to proceed as cattle had been tied across the road. When Gautam asked the 17-year-old boy to move the cattle, an argument broke out between them. Hearing the commotion, Tikeshwar came to the spot. The boy allegedly returned home, brought a knife and attacked them. Gautam was stabbed in the abdomen, while Tikeshwar suffered an injury to his back. The injured father and son were rushed to the Debagada DHH, where doctors declared Gautam dead. Police took the minor into custody and questioned him in connection with the incident.
