Narasinghpur: An elderly woman died after falling into a well in her house at Hatia Palli village under Narasinghpur police limits in Cuttack district Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Koushalya Naik (75).
Sources said, in the morning when the victim went to the well to fetch water and while bringing pulling the bucket up from the well, she lost her balance and fell into the well.
After some villagers found Koushalya floating in the well, they informed the fire department following which the fire personnel pulled out the body.
Koushalya has not been keeping well for past few months and was suffering from a kidney related ailment, said her neighbours. As Kaushalya’s family is poor one, locals demanded compensation to her kin.
Police lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident.
