Nuapada: An elderly woman sustained severe injuries in an attack by a wild bear Friday morning. The incident occurred in Laraki village under Komana block in Nuapada district.
The 65-yr-old woman Yada Gahir had gone to attend nature’s call in the nearby forest along with another youth Nirasa Gahir, when the wild bear attacked her.
Her left foot was severely injured and she was rushed to the nearby Komana hospital. The doctors there gave her the first-aid and she was referred to Nuapada DHH.
There are several incidents of bear attack reports from some parts of the State like Keonjhar, Nabrangpur and Ganjam, etc. Many a times, the victim dies and on some occasions, the villagers kill the bear.
