Buguda: The local administration Saturday rescued a 70-year-old elderly woman from her house at Baksipali village under this block in Ganjam district where she was found living a life of destitute. The poor elderly woman was identified as Kamali Jena.
After receiving the information from neighbours, local tehsildar Saroj Kumar Behera, BDO Bhaktabandhu Janardan Dalei, Buguda IIC Ramchandra Biswal, CHC Dr. Sarthak Biswal reached the village and found the woman in a distress condition.
She lived at a thatched hut in the village. Neighbours said the elderly woman was deprived of proper food for the last six months. She was surviving with puffed rice and other dry edibles. She hardly could walk and remained indoors. Due to this problem, she urinated and defecated inside the house left with no one to take care of her, neighbours said.
On learning the matter, tehsildar reached the village and provided the elderly woman with biscuits first. Tehsildar said they found the elderly woman lying in a thatched house.
“We rescued her and admitted her to Buguda community health centre (CHC) with the help of an ambulance. Now she is undergoing treatment,” tehsildar said.
Tehsildar Behera and Buguda IIC Biswal ensured proper treatment to the elderly woman. She will be allowed to stay with whoever she chooses after her treatment, tehsildar Behera said.
If not she will be kept at an old-age-home for proper care, Behera added. PNN
