Bhubaneswar: The Energy department Saturday claimed that electricity was restored fully in all the Titli affected districts of the state except Gajapati.

“Additional teams and workforce have been mobilised to Gajapati for expeditious restoration considering the severity of damage. Except Gajapati, electricity supply has been restored in other three affected districts. In Gajpati, 50 restoration teams are working round-the-clock,” a media release from the department said Saturday.

The release further read that works relating to power restoration have been carried out expeditiously otherwise the same could have taken several months. The department added, “Amidst heavy rain, the officials along with restoration teams worked day and night on war footing to ensure normalcy in electricity supply. Quantum of work carried out during this restoration process would have taken six months in normal course.”

The department also claimed that they are coordinating with other departments and have been working to ensure that the damaged infrastructure and power supply network in cyclone-hit Ganjam, Gajapati, Khandamal and Raygada are restored as soon as possible.

The department said that in order to review and monitor the restoration work, Energy Minister Susanta Singh and Energy secretary Hemant Sharma had camped in the affected districts. Besides, the department’s technicians and engineers were engaged in the affected districts.

The department said that in light of the rehabilitation services, the government had earlier issued direction to the restoration teams to prioritise restoration of power supply to essential services like hospitals, railway feeders and water supply points.
