11 members of a family found hanging blindfolded in Delhi

New Delhi: Eleven members of a family were found hanging blindfolded inside a home in north Delhi’s Burari area Sunday morning. While some of the victims were found hanging from an iron grill ceiling; others were lying on the floor blindfolded with their hands and legs tied up.

While no exact reason was known, the police suspect that they committed suicide.

Seven of the victims are women, including a 75-year-old, while three are minors, an officer said.

The family ran a grocery shop and plywood business out of their double-storey home in Burari’s Sant Nagar. Every morning, their shop would open by 6, but when it didn’t till 7.30 today, a neighbour went to check on the family. As the door was open, he went inside and was shocked to find most of them hanging from the grill ceiling.

He informed the police, who rushed to the spot and cordoned the area. They are currently scanning the CCTV footage.
