Rayagada, March 3: Kamini Sahu, wife of deceased district welfare officer Dhaneswar Prusty Tuesday alleged former Rayagada collector Sashi Bhushan Padhi had verbally abused her husband 50 times in the last four months.
She along with her family met collector Jagannath Mohanty at his office and apprised him of the delay by police in registering a case over her complaint.
She alleged police have not registered a case though 14 days have passed since she had lodged a complaint against Padhi and former ITDA project administrator Gorachand Gomango. She blamed the police for trying to ‘protect’ the officials who had allegedly harassed her husband.
Sahu also apprised Mohanty of the harassment meted out to her husband by both the officials. She alleged Padhi had not allowed her husband to take charge and misbehaved with him October 1, 2014. Besides, Padhi and Gomango had been putting pressure on him to sign on utilisation certificates, she alleged.
“The state government had directed the DWO to organise the ‘Sargiful’ programme. Padhi attempted to prevent her husband from organising the programme, but headmasters of many schools organised it. Enraged, Padhi abused her husband in front of all headmasters,” she alleged.
Sahu urged the collector to take steps for handing the case over to CBI and providing justice to her family. She also sought the immediate arrest of Padhi and Gomango. She presented a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir through the collector citing her demands. Earlier, Sahu had joined BJP activists who have been staging a dharna for last several days demanding to hand over the case to the CBI.
Meanwhile, local BJP leaders said they would move the High Court seeking CBI inquiry into the case.
Mohanty assured Sahu and the
BJP leaders of stern action against guilty officials after completion of the Crime Branch probe.
