Sundargarh: Acting on a tip-off, a team of Bonai police seized fake sauce and ketchup bottles from a pick-up van and arrested a youth in this connection, Monday. The accused was identified as Rahul Prasad Sahu. A team of Bonai police intercepted a pick-up van loaded with fake sauce bottles and bearing registration number OD 01- AG – 4024, and seized 678 bottles of fake sauce along with the van. The pick-up van, carrying the fake sauce was on its way to Bonai from Rourkela. A case was registered in this connection and the accused was produced in court after interrogation. Locals alleged that traders were making huge profits by supplying fake sauces due to the heavy demand for tomato and chili sauce. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the sauce was being transported to Bonai for sale at local fast food shops in the area. Moreover, the sauce was not only fake but few of the bottles had their manufacturing date printed as January 2022.
