Family feud leads to man’s death in Bhadrak

Chandbali police station

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a person allegedly killed his wife following a heated argument in Paikarapur village under the Chandbali police limits in Bhadrak district of Odisha during the wee hours of Wednesday, officials said.

The police identified the 40-year-old deceased wife as Kamalini Pati. The couple was staying with their three children in Paikarapur in Chandbali. Local sources claimed that the accused husband, Bijay Pati, used to work as a daily-wage labourer to make ends meet.

“The accused husband committed the crime while under the influence of alcohol. He used to get into fights with the deceased almost every other day. When we asked, he confessed to killing his wife following a quarrel,” a neighbour told media persons Wednesday.

The accused, who had been away from home for the past two days, allegedly returned home drunk on Tuesday night. Subsequently, the couple got into a heated argument which soon turned violent as Bijay allegedly, in a fit of rage, strangled the victim to death with his hands.

He later revealed the whole matter himself before his relatives and other villagers, who informed the police.

Upon being informed, the staff of Chandbali police station reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter. The accused husband has been detained by the police for further interrogation.
