Bhadrak: Protesting against negligence in paddy procurement, farmers of Bhadrak Monday staged a road blockade by putting paddy sacks at Basantia market on Bhadrak-Anandapur State Highway-53.
According to the farmers, Basantia Seva Samiti in the district’s Bant block has not procured any paddy since last two months. Further, sacks have been kept in the open and sprouts have started coming up after the recent unseasonal rains.
More than 40 farmers are part of this blockade.
Bant police have been deployed on the ground to avoid any untoward situation.
Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded on either side of the road because of the protest.
