Bhubaneswar: Student wing of state Congress Tuesday took out a protest march from Master canteen here on issues relating to education sector including the ITER placement scam.
The activists were trying to take out a bike rally towards Naveen Niwas raising anti-government slogans and demanding action against persons involved in the recruitment scam when police intercepted them leading to a scuffle. The agitators also raised issues of discrepancies in CBSE evaluation.
In a related development, Orissa Student Leaders’ Forum submitted a memorandum to Governor SC Jamir seeking action against the ‘placement scam’ of ITER authorities and SOA University Vice-Chancellor Amit Banerjee.
The members of the outfit alleged they had sought intervention of RDC-Central into the incident and filed an FIR with the police.
They also alleged the prime accused in the incident is still elusive.
Meanwhile, Youth Congress activists staged protests at Master Canteen Square here against alleged discrepancies in the affidavit filed by Law Minister Pratap Jena during the 2014 elections about a plot owned by his wife in Cuttack CDA under discretionary quota. They also burnt an effigy of the minister and demanded his ouster.
