Cuttack: Bali Yatra which kick-started at Gadgadia Ghat on the banks of Mahanadi Saturday has showcased a number of clean food stalls attracting foodies of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and the towns of surrounding areas.
It was Sunday. There were many who thronged the eateries, this time. Thankfully, they all appeared hygienic in the wake of NGT ban on polythene, plastic plates and cups. The food stall owners were seen using thermocol cups, paper plates and glass.
Orissa Post interacted with a number of foodies and visitors who had come to enjoy the taste of aromatic and lavish spread at the stalls.
According to Biswa Ranjan Sahoo, a CDA resident, the Rajasthani Food Platter, a first-timer to the fair, served its dal-bati-churma which was considered one of the best at the fair. “With dollops of ghee in dal, I am not complaining as the food is tasty and hygienic’’.
Badal Majhi, another visitor to the fair says, “I love egg rolls here. As today is Chhad-khai we are allowed to consume non-veg food which is my priority. The rolls are hot and spicy enough to satiate my taste buds.”
“The ambience of food stalls appeared hygienic and I have ordered some chicken pakoda, which are crisp and delicious,’’ says Baisakhi, a housewife.
“There are Pomfret fry and prawn pakoda which you would love to consume. The food is too good to be spared. Everything is served in a clean way, so I have no complaints about food at Bali Yatra, this time,” says Ravenshavian Barsha.
Rodeshi, an aspirant for banking services, says, “You can’t imagine Hyderabadi kababs so cheap here and it’s so delicious. The place is clean and everything prepared right before me is yummy. Why go elsewhere when Bali Yatra food fest is so awesome here”.
Damodar Swain, a private firm employee, says: This year, stalls are better and are hygienic. There are large dustbins all around. Water supply is adequate, so that people can eat and drink in a cleaner way.
“I love these hot jalebis,” says Smrutishree. “They are like homemade. Every place is clean. At least, one can enjoy food here, without the fear of infection’’.
Vegetarian Arabind finds corn paneer cheese pizza quite good. “As far as cleanliness is concerned, every stall has been offering decent chairs, clean water and food. What more a foodie can ask for!”
