Fire breaks out at dairy factory in Odisha’s Kataka, no casualties

Kataka: A fire broke out at a dairy factory in Odisha’s Kataka district Thursday morning, officials said.

The fire was reported from the cooling unit of the facility in the Jagatpur industrial area around 7.40 am, said kataka deputy range fire officer Abani Swain.

Four fire tenders doused the blaze in an operation lasting several hours, he said.

“No one was injured in the incident as the place was empty at the time,” he added.

Swain said preliminary investigation suggested the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in the freezing unit.

“A detailed investigation will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and whether the factory was complying with the required safety norms,” he said.
