Fire erupts on moving bus in Jajpur; all passengers safe

Singhpur: A fire broke out on a moving passenger bus at Fatepur under Binjharpur block in Jajpur district Tuesday. All passengers escaped unharmed after quickly jumping off the vehicle.

The private passenger bus, Rahi, had departed from Baramunda bus stand in Bhubaneswar at around 5am and was travelling towards Singhpur. As the bus reached the Fatepur Pokhari Chhak, flames suddenly erupted from the engine. Locals who noticed the fire immediately signalled the driver to stop the vehicle.

The driver, assisted by residents, swiftly brought the blaze under control. Passengers rushed out of the bus moments after it halted. More than 30 passengers were travelling on the bus at the time of the incident.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. According to the driver, an electrical wiring fault may have triggered the incident. He said the vehicle undergoes regular maintenance checks, and the sudden outbreak of fire despite no prior issues has left everyone surprised.
