post news network, Bhubaneswar, June 11: With an aim to smoothen the process of selling the tribal products in the state, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is going to organise the ‘Mango Festival’ from Friday, June 12, the bank said.
“To ease the process of selling the tribal mangoes in the state the bank is going to organise the ‘mango festival for the first time in the state. It will include the varieties of mangoes brought from the tribal areas only,” it said.
On the exhibition-cum-sale it said, the carbide-free mangoes will be displayed at the stalls. The stalls will display such varieties as the Dussehri, Amrapalli, Lengeda, Neelam, Subarnekha etc. The four-day exhibition will also display the litchi, onion and pineapple.
“The exhibition will continue till June 15 and will include thirty five farmers from various tribal areas to exhibit their produces. The bank expects a total footfall of 10,000 with an average footfall of 2000 per day. The exhibition will house 10 stalls in which mangoes will be exclusively exhibited,” the bank added.
In the recent past the bank has reported a growth of 35 per cent in total disbursement. The total disbursement for 2014-15 fiscal of the bank has crossed Rs8,000cr. It has also registered a 57 per cent increase in refinancing in the current fiscal over FY’13-’14.
“NABARD has also started a direct lending window under which an amount of `800cr was sanctioned in 2014-15 to the state civil supplies corporation for its food grain procurement operations in the state,” the bank had earlier said.
