Fisherman missing in sea returns home after 6 yrs

Kendrapara: A fisherman who went missing in the sea six years ago and was presumed dead returned home to Tikayatnagar village here Monday.

The joy of 50-year-old Kalu Jana’s family members knew no bounds after they fund him alive. However, at the same time his family members were shocked as he failed to recognize any of them.  He even failed to recall his whereabouts during those six years.

The incident had taken place in 2010 when Kalu along with his seven friends had gone for fishing in a trawler. However, the trawler capsized in mid sea and all the eight crew members went missing.

While seven of them managed to stay afloat and reached their homes after two days, Kalu remained untraceable. His family members despite all efforts failed to trace him and presumed him dead.

Some locals noticed Kalu roaming aimlessly near Talachua jetty. He failed to speak anything when they enquired about him.

On being informed, Kalu’s wife and family members rushed to the jetty and identified him. They brought him back home.

His wife said, “We will take him to a doctor as we suspect him to be suffering from memory loss.”  PNN
