Buguda: Ganjam district administration Friday sealed five clinics that had been run by quacks for a long time.
These sealed clinics included two in Buguda town, one in Pangidi area and two at Kalamba village chowk.
According to a source, the quacks had been running their clinics at different locations in Buguda area for many years. These clinics were being run illegally, paying scant regard to rules and regulations concerning opening and running a clinic.
Local people had taken up the matter with the local administration on several occasions in past. Nothing had been done to stop the quacks from running their clinics.
During this ongoing lockdown and weekend shutdowns, these quacks were busy minting money as patients would prefer these clinics over hospitals. They would perhaps think the chances of contracting virus are more in hospitals than in these clinics.
The administration Friday swooped down on these clinics. Tehsildar Sangram Keshari Jena Friday conducted raids on these illegal clinics and subsequently sealed them. The owners have been directed not to open their sealed clinics.
