Flipkart delivery boy found dead, murder suspected

Bhawanipatna: A delivery boy working for Flipkart was found dead with stab wounds at Lane-7 Hilltown area in Bhawanipatna under Sadar police limits in Kalahandi district, early Friday morning.

The mater came to the fore after locals spotted the body lying in a pool of blood, with a motorcycle near and informed the police. The police reached the spot with scientific team and started investigation into the matter.

The boy has been identified as Ajay Sunani (22) of Gosalpada here. Under circumstantial evidences, police registered a case of murder and launched a probe into the incident.

Rise in attack on courier boys has now become a matter of concern. Miscreants order products online through Cash on Delivery (COD). They trick the delivery boys into isolated areas for the parcel delivery and later attack them.

In most cases, the courier boys hand over the parcel, fearing for their lives. Since, the miscreants use a fake id and address for online purchasing, they escape easily. In any case, the delivery boys denies to hand over the parcel, he is attacked and beaten up.

Sources say, Ajay worked as a delivery boy for online giant Flipkart since the past couple of years. He used to travel around the town and deliver parcels.

As usual, he had gone to Lane-7 of Hill Town area to deliver a parcel, Thursday evening. However, he did not return home till late at night. His family members grew apprehensive and searched for him, but there was no trace of him.

Later, his father lodged a missing persons’ complaint at Town police station when he didn’t return home in the night.

While no exact reason of the attack was known, it is suspected that he might have been stabbed to death by some miscreants over fight over the parcel.

A case has been registered and a probe is on, police said adding that the miscreants would be nabbed soon.
