Focus on humanising digital world at BGU conference

Bhubaneswar: A two-day national conference was organised at Birla Global University (BGU) on Language, Literature and Diversity recently.

 

Renowned professors, experts, teachers and research scholars from different colleges and universities from across the country participated in the conference to deliberate on various issues and challenges to language and literature in a diversified world.

 

Padmashree DP Pattnayak, Sachidanand Mohanty, Jatin Nayak,  Kalyani Samantaray, Rajgopal and many such intellectuals from the discipline addressed the audience during the conference held from February 15 to 16.

A panel discussion, plenary session and a poster competition on the theme ‘Diversity’ was held. Prof Nayak in his plenary speech said, “Language is not only a tool of communication but also a marker of identity.” He further added that the present generation is going ‘Googlish’ without being embedded in culture. He emphasised on humanising the digital world.

 

The conference, which started with a welcome address by P Nayak, Dean School of Management, was presided over by BGU vice chancellor Sudhakar Panda. The conference was convened by Anubha Ray, area head English and Business Communication.
