Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former MLA of Ersama Bijaya Kumar Nayak breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar Wednesday. He was 70.
Born in Gobindapur village under Erasama block of Jagatsinghpur district, he was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Erasama constituency as a Congress candidate in 1995 and served as a legislator till 2000.
Family sources said that he was suffering from age-related ailments. He was admitted to a private hospital here for treatment. However, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment Wednesday morning at around 9:45 am.
A pall gloom descended in the locality as the news broke.
