Former Odisha Sahitya Akademi president Satakadi Hota dies at 95

Bhubaneswar: Satakadi Hota, a prominent litterateur and former president of Odisha Sahitya Akademi, passed away in Bhubaneswar Sunday. He was 95 years old at the time of his death.

Notably, Hota published as many as 16 novels, 16 collections of stories and one collection of poems. He was awarded by the Odisha Sahitya Akademi for best story-writing in the film ‘Aranya Rodana‘.

Hota has been a member of many literary, social, economic and technical organisations. He was also a member of the Odia Advisory Board of The Sahitya Akademi, Delhi.

Several of his Odia novels including Asamaya, Prathama Adhyaya, Satyanagar, Byakula Hrudaya, Rajadhanira Ranga and many more have left a deep imprint in the literature arena.
