Bhadrak: At least four houses were gutted and property worth lakhs of rupees reduced to ashes in a massive fire that broke out in Badabanasta village under Bhandaripokhari block in Bhadrak district Saturday night.
According to reports, the fire broke out at one Ramesh Sahu’s house in the village at around 1 am when all of his family members were sleeping. When Sahu woke up and raised an alarm, the inferno had engulfed three other houses located in the neighbourhood.
Valuables including furniture, electronic gadgets and paddy were completely damaged in the blaze till fire tenders from Bhandaripokhari reached the spot and doused the flames.
Meanwhile, villagers have demanded adequate compensation for the four affected families which have been rendered homeless following the mishap.
