Four more eco-friendly gyms for Silver City

Cuttack, June 2: Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) is planning to set up four open-air, eco-friendly gymnasiums here. The gyms will be set up at public parks and will have 12 fitness equipment units each. A private firm will be hired on contract basis to design, supply, install and maintain the gyms for three years.
CDA sources said, the gyms would be open to public. Each gym will have an air walker, a sit-up bench, a swing, twister, glider, push and pull up chair, knee/hip raise on parallel bars, big shoulder wheel, spinner and a bench with dumbbells and all that necessary equipment that a modern gym must have. ‘‘This is a good initiative. It will boost fitness activities. But the parks in the city are poorly maintained. Officials would have to ensure proper upkeep and restoration of the park before setting up such gyms,’’ said Naresh Kumar, an engineering student.
‘‘The development authority should set up more open gyms for those who want to stay fit,’’ said Nabin Barik, a resident of Link Road.
