Sundargarh, March 14: FPA, Phulbani rode on a hat-trick by Pankaj Sona and put up a dominating display to drub Home Guard Sporting (HGS), Bolangir 6-0 in a match of the Inter-District Club Football Championships at Kundukela Jubilee Ground here Monday.
Pankaj struck in the 48th, 78th and 90th minutes respectively. Raju Besra (35th, 47th) scored a brace, while Sonkha Marandi (first) found the back of the net once.
In another encounter, Home Guard, Angul eked out a comfortable 2-0 win over Tarini Club, Keonjhar. Antarjami Nayak (third, eighth) scored both the goals for the winning team.
WB AG clinch title
West Bengal AG emerged champions of the East Zone AG Hockey Championships after drubbing Jharkhand AG 7-0 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Monday.
Surinder Singh scored a hat-trick, with goals in the 13th, 15th and 42nd minutes respectively. Chandan Singh (21st, 30th) struck twice, while Gurpreet Singh (23rd) and Sangram Singh (44th) scored once each.
Trial camp
Football Association of Orissa (FAO) will conduct a selection trial camp for constituting the team which will play against the AIFF-XI. The AIFF team is playing preparatory games for the under-17 World Cup next year and this match to be played at Margao, April 27 is a part of the preparations.
Chess tourney
DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar, Bhubaneswar will host the VIIIth Schools’ Open Chess Championships, starting March 23. School students of Orissa up to Class-X will be eligible to participate in the tournament.
