Bhubaneswar: Odia sculptor Gadadhar Ojha is representing India at the 3rd International Sculpture Symposium that started Sunday at Eilat in Israel. The event concludes July 5.
Gadadhar, currently residing in Paris, has carved out a niche for himself. He had said he drew inspiration for his works from the stone carvings that Orissa is replete with and the rich traditions and culture of the state.
The Puri-born sculptor has been living in Paris for the past 17 years. He is now experimenting with a wide range of materials, including granite, marble, sandstone, wood, metal, ice, snow and bronze. He, however, is partial towards stone as he feels stone expresses his ideas best.
Gadadhar has gained global acclaim and has represented India at symposia around the world. He has added France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark, Romania, Russia, Austria, Argentina, Canada, Cyprus, Lithuania, Armenia, Crete (Greece), Mexico, and the Sultanate of Oman to the list of places he has been to. He has made a mark at exhibitions and group shows around the world.
Ojha had studied at Utkal University and honed his skills as a sculptor at Delhi College of Art.
