Gajapati dist administration set to face Phethai

Parlakhemundi: In a view to access the measures taken to face cyclone Phethai and to discuss better ways to tackle the situation, a preparatory meeting was held at the Collector’s conference hall here.

Higher officials of the district have been appointed as nodal officers at all the blocks. Similarly, all block development officers have been directed to identify people of their respective blocks living under a life-threatening condition and shift them to safer places. The headmasters of schools where people have taken shelter have been asked to provide cooked food to them.

The officials have been directed to make sure that the yet to be harvested paddy should not get damaged in rain.

Likewise, 80 expectant mothers have been identified in the district and the district health department has been asked to shift them to safer places.

Two teams of NDRF and SDRF reached here Sunday afternoon. One team will be sent to Kashinagar whiel one will be positioned at the district headquarters.

The Collector informed that the BSNL has been directed to ensure round the clock mobile service.

All the executive engineers have been asked to be ready with machinery while focusing the roads repaired during Titli cyclone.

The nodal officers have been directed to ensure that none should live or take shelter in the houses damaged in Titli.

The district administration informed that the district is to experience downpours Monday afternoon.
